I joined Gold’s Gym in Gungahlin about two and a half years ago, after a period of about six months without any training following injury. At the time I was doing shift work, and had used this – as well as my recurring injuries – as a great excuse not to train.
"I had often driven past Gold’s, and decided to see what it was all about. I was drawn in by their reputation and what they stand for, and thought it would be a worthwhile place to kick-start my new fitness journey.
"I initially found it difficult to get into a new fitness routine – after having so much time away from training and losing my peak fitness, it was a struggle. It wasn’t until about 18 months ago, when I saw a poster for Alice Leemhuis ‘ PT services that my training and fitness took a turn for the better.
"Alice has been an amazing personal trainer from Day 1. During my initial consultation with her, she really listened to what my fitness goals were at the time, and tailored a program and training to suit my needs.
"Starting my strength program with Alice was no easy feat – I was still encountering recurring, niggling injuries that were truly affecting my training abilities and goals. Alice never gave up on me though – she thought of new ways to train around my injuries, and kept on top of me with my rehabilitation to ensure I was still making progress.
"The strength and fitness gains that I have made since training with Alice are incredible – where I once could not do a deadlift or BB back-squat without pain in my lower back, I am now doing with ease (and lifting close to my bodyweight). My posture is slowly improving, and I am seeing a lot of positive changes in my body. On top of the physical gains, I am finally in a position mentally where I want to train and smash my last PB!
"I am glad that I joined Gold’s Gym when I did, and even happier that I was able to find a trainer that is so flexible and willing to fit my training needs. I wouldn’t be where I am now otherwise."
